The Indianapolis Colts bolstered their depleted running back corps Friday by signing veteran Kenyan Drake.
Pro Football Talk reported that Drake’s agent broke the news he had signed with Indy.
The 29-year-old Drake immediately becomes the most accomplished available running back for the Colts. The team placed All-Pro Jonathan Taylor on the active/physically unable to perform list earlier this week after he requested a trade amid a contract dispute.
Backup RB Zack Moss suffered a broken arm in practice on Monday and is expected to miss six weeks.
Enter Drake, who is joining his fifth NFL team. He rushed for 482 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games for the Baltimore Ravens last season. However, he boasts a 4.5 yards per carry career average, so he’s a very competent “Plan C” to add for the preseason.
Third-year running back Deon Jackson is also in the mix for playing time in the preseason, along with undrafted rookie Toriano Clinton, Evan Hull and Jake Funk.
Drake, of course, will always be best remembered for scoring the winning touchdown for the Miami Dolphins in their “Miami Miracle” win over the New England Patriots in 2018. It’s a highlight they’ll be playing 50 years from now, and it will look no less amazing/unbelievable.
Drake will forever be known for the Miracle in Miami, what a highlight.
