Longtime offensive tackle Tyron Smith has been a staple on the Dallas Cowboys offensive line ever since being drafted by the team in 2011. However, his time with the team may shortly end this offseason after a surprising report emerged on Saturday.
Smith has been the model of consistency throughout his tenure in Dallas, earning eight Pro Bowl appearances throughout his 13-year NFL career.
Unfortunately, availability has been a problem in recent years for Smith, as he has played in just 17 regular season games in the last two seasons combined.
At age 33, Smith may be eyeing a change of scenery for the first time in his career as he enters free agency. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Smith is “unlikely” to return to Dallas for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

If Smith does indeed seek other opportunities around the NFL, there should be a ton of high-profile suitors for his services. Even in an injury-riddled year last season, he found a way to be named a second-team All-Pro.
For years, the Cowboys have had one of the best offensive line units in all football. But now, there are far more questions than answers up front for the team.
Smith could be on his way out. Pro Bowl right guard Zack Martin is still exceptional but is beginning to get up there in age. And right tackle Terence Steele appeared to be the weakest link of their line this past season.
Only time will tell whether Smith has a change of heart and decides to stay in Dallas moving forward. However, his potential departure should undoubtedly concern Cowboys fans as they look to improve this offseason.
