It certainly wasn’t a great season for the Las Vegas Raiders this year as the team struggled for much of the season, particularly on the offensive side of the ball despite having a number of star players. However, there was at least one player on the roster that the team could count on: kicker Daniel Carlson.

As Pro Football Talk pointed out on Wednesday night, Daniel Carlson actually set an extremely impressive NFL record this season, hitting more field goals of 50 yards or longer this season than any previous kicker in NFL history.

“Carlson made 11 field goals of 50 yards or longer during the regular season, setting a new NFL record,” Michael David Smith wrote at Pro Football Talk. The previous record of 10 50-yard field goals was shared by three kickers: Blair Walsh, who did it in 2012, Justin Tucker, who did it in 2016, and Brandon McManus, who did it in 2020.”

Obviously, the Raiders probably would have preferred to set some different records this season – or at least had more production from other players on the roster. Perhaps then the team would be preparing for the playoffs instead of sitting at home.

But still, it’s an impressive record that the team will undoubtedly celebrate.
