Daniel Jones Syndication: Palm Beach Post

Daniel Jones made headlines on Sunday. The New York Giants quarterback was unable to finish out the team’s 31-16 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, as he left the game with a neck injury.

Prior to his early exit, Jones completed 14-of-20 passes (70 percent) for 114 yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. New York’s lone touchdown of the afternoon came on a Jason Pinnock second quarter 102-yard pick-six.

The Giants have now gone 145 minutes without scoring an offensive touchdown, which certainly points to larger issues at hand, but there seems to be some concern with Jones.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, as Jones heads into his MRI, there is optimism that the Giants quarterback did not suffer a major injury. His status for Sunday is still to be determined, but he has yet to be ruled out.

Jones told reporters that Sunday’s stinger reminded him of a neck injury he suffered a few seasons prior, which Rapoport said it was his understanding that it was a “neck contusion.”

“This seems less severe,” said Rapoport.

His status was described as “iffy” at best. So, if he’s unable to go, Tyrod Taylor would start for the Giants against the Buffalo Bills next Sunday night. Taylor completed 9-of-12 (75 percent) for 86 yards in relief of Jones.

The NFL world was quick to react to Jones’ injury update.
