The New York Giants will clinch a spot in the 2023 NFL playoffs on Sunday if they defeat Jeff Saturday and the Indianapolis Colts in the Meadowlands.

It’s something that didn’t seem possible for the Giants not that long ago.

Quarterback Daniel Jones cited head coach Brian Daboll‘s “fire and ice” style that helped put the team on the cusp of a playoff berth.

“I think he’s a good combination of both,” Jones told The New York Post. “He certainly has the fire piece of him and when that’s needed and when we deserve it he certainly is willing to bring that out. He’s good at balancing both of ’em.

“At times when I’ve needed it, and it’s called for, he’s certainly gotten on me, and you feel the passion and you feel that fire.’”

Jones did not reflect directly on incidents that represented Daboll’s icy side, but he acknowledged it exists.

“He certainly will acknowledge it when he thinks you’ve done something well,” Jones said. “As much as there’s been the fire he’s complimented and acknowledged when you’ve done the right thing and made the right decision.”

Oddsmakers currently list the Giants as 5.5-point favorites over the Colts entering Sunday’s contest.
