This season didn’t quite go the way the New Orleans Saints had hoped as the team will be missing the playoffs for a third straight season, but it doesn’t sound like the disappointing season is going to cost head coach Dennis Allen his job.

On Sunday morning, NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that Dennis Allen is expected to remain the head coach of the New Orleans Saints next season.

“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Dennis Allen is currently expected to return to the Saints for 2024,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk on Sunday afternoon. “Today’s game against the Falcons could, in theory, change that. If a horrible coaching blunder turns a win into a loss, for example, a fresh look might be warranted. For now, however, Allen is not believed to be part of the problem in New Orleans.”

This was Allen’s second season leading the team. Last year, he led the team to a 7-10 record, missing the playoffs. This season, the team is entering their final regular season game against the Atlanta Falcons with an 8-8 record, but are eliminated from playoff contention.

We’ll have to see if Allen and the Saints can bounce back next season.
