There has been a ton of speculation surrounding former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and where he will eventually sign in free agency. While he has not decided yet, he reportedly is leaning towards one team.
Carr has visited with the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and the Carolina Panthers this offseason. While all of those teams may still be in the mix, a report has emerged that he has a clear preference.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, while the Panthers and Saints are still in the conversation, Carr is reportedly “slightly leaning” toward signing with the Jets.
While the #Panthers and #Saints remain in the conversation for Derek Carr, the former Pro Bowl quarterback has a slight lean toward the #Jets as his next home as of now, per source. Nothing is final, but Jets — who are linked to Aaron Rodgers — have made an impression.

However, it may be more complicated than that. While Carr may prefer to play for the Jets next season, New York also has interest in signing Aaron Rodgers if he chooses to return to football.
Rodgers has yet to his decision after his four-day “darkness retreat” last month. Until he does make a decision, it could hold up a number of teams from making their decision at quarterback.
Regardless, the NFL world took notice of this report and offered their opinion on how Carr would look on the Jets.
Sounds like a great idea Derek https://t.co/Fufpkjbxm2

So, like Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr also intends to go to a dark place https://t.co/V9VmUEcCSN

This is great news for the Jets. Derek Carr wants NY and seems willing to wait (a little bit) for Aaron Rodgers. https://t.co/ydepEdASi4

Missing out on Derek Carr would be a big shot to the #Saints gut. He’s the guy they want and the fallback options either have extensive injury histories or put them right back where they were last year.

While Carr isn’t typically seen as an elite-level quarterback, he has shown that in the right situation, he can play at a high level. He has made the Pro Bowl four times in his nine-year NFL career.
It remains to be seen if it will come to fruition, but joining a team that may be a solid quarterback away from being a contender like the Jets may be the perfect landing spot for Carr.
