The Detroit Lions fell just short of a trip to the Super Bowl this year when they lost 34-31 to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship – a game they led at one point by a score of 24-7 in the third quarter. And it sounds like that loss is going to motivate the team during the offseason.

During his postgame interview, Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown opened up about what he was feeling following the brutal loss, and made it clear that he will let it motivate him to make sure he doesn’t feel this way at the end of next season.

“I think that feeling that we all had walking off of that field — I don’t think any one of us want to feel that again if we can,” St. Brown said according to MLive.com. “I think the feeling that we have is enough to motivate us for next year. We had a good year as a whole, but it is all for nothing if you don’t win the whole thing. Everyone’s goal to start the year is to win the Super Bowl. And if you don’t? You kind of fail the season. Whatever you lose here in the NFC championship or don’t make the playoffs, it is all the same. We will be ready.”

We’ll have to see if the Lions can get back to this stage next season.
