Over the past few weeks, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf has been hurting his team with some costly penalties, racking up three 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the last five games alone. But despite the major penalties, it doesn’t sound like he’s going to make any changes to his game.

This week, DK Metcalf was asked about the growing number of penalties and he had quite a controversial response, revealing that he has no plans to change the way he plays.

“No, because I’m not going to stop blocking or playing aggressive, because that’s a part of who I am,” Metcalf said according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “That’s who I am as a player, and that’s why the Seahawks drafted me, because I’m a competitor and I block my butt off. I’m not going to stop doing that. . . . When I’m beating someone’s butt like I do when I’m blocking, sometimes the officials don’t like that. I’m just going to continue to play football how I know how to play it, and that’s in between the whistle. You can’t stop that.”

Metcalf’s style of play might lead to more penalties in the future, but it’s pretty clear that the Seahawks are just going to have to live with it as long as he’s on the roster.
