Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane (28) breaks free for a 76-yard touchdown run against the New York Giants during the first half of an NFL game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, October 8, 2023.

The Miami Dolphins scorched the field again on Sunday afternoon. Miami won big over the New York Giants, earning a 31-16. Raheem Mostert, De’Von Achane, Jaylen Waddle, and Tyreek Hill all scored touchdowns in the game. In other words, speed kills. The high-speed Dolphin offense was in full effect on Sunday afternoon and the Giants couldn’t contain them.

But the Giants can’t really blame themselves too much. You’re dealing with one of the fastest teams in NFL history at this point. Next Gen Stats was on the case on Sunday and profiled just how fast the Dolphins are going this season.

“The Dolphins offense is currently responsible for the five fastest speeds by ball carriers this season,” Next Gen Stats tweeted. The graphic read:

NFL SPEED LEADERS
2023 Season, Top Speed Among Ball Carriers

  1. Tyreek Hill – 22.01 mph (Week 5)
  2. De’Von Achane – 21.93 mph (Week 3)
  3. De’Von Achane – 21.76 mph (Week 5)
  4. Tyreek Hill – 21. 66 mph (Week 1)
  5. Raheem Mostert – 21.62 mph (Week 2)

In other words, the ‘Phins are fast. Really, really fast. Then, Next Gen Stats went even further into it.

“Dolphins ball carriers average a top speed of 14.25 mph, fastest of any team in the NFL,” they posted.

While Tracktown U.S.A. might reside in Eugene, Oregon, it’s clear where the speed resides in the NFL. The dynamic Dolphins offense has been turning heads around the NFL all season. That continued on Sunday.
