Coming into Sunday’s game, the Cincinnati Bengals defense hadn’t allowed a rushing touchdown this season. That changed Sunday thanks to Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Elliott, who has bursted onto the scene and is leading the NFL in rushing, has run all over the Bengals tough run defense. The Dallas running back has gone for more than 100 yards and highlighted his strong day with a 60 yard touchdown that had plenty of people talking.

Elliott has been crucial to Dallas’ strong start, especially with the fact that the Cowboys are starting rookie Dak Prescott at quarterback. His ability to be successful in the run game has been paramount to Dallas only losing one game thus far this season.

Coming into this game, there was plenty of reasons to doubt that the former Ohio State running back could be effective during Sunday’s game. Cincinnati had yet to allow a rushing touchdown this season and had gone 15 consecutive games without having a 100-yard rusher. Those stats were quickly squashed as Elliot had a field day running all over the Bengal defense.

For Dallas, Elliott’s strong performances can have a major impact on how they do down the road. The NFC East is most definitely there for the taking. If Elliot can help get the Cowboys into the playoffs, there is no reason to believe why they couldn’t be a factor in the NFC.
