Former San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore just agreed to a plea deal that would keep him out of jail on domestic abuse charges.

As some may recall, Gore was accused of dragging a naked 28-year woman by the hair in the Tropicana Casino last July in Atlantic City.

According to reports, Gore pled guilty to violating the public health nuisance code in New Jersey on Monday — a downgrade from his initial charge of simple assault. He was ordered to pay fines and fees, which, according to court records, totaled around $2,000.

He was also charged with false imprisonment, which was later dropped. Police said at the time that the young woman didn’t appear to be injured, which is maybe why Gore was able to walk free from this case, but the police still had to charge him.

Gore, who rushed for 16,000 yards in his NFL career is legitimately being considered for the NFL Hall of Fame. But despite this case basically being dismissed, you have to wonder how this will affect his chances in the future.

There are several NFL stars like Jim Brown and OJ Simpson who were both involved in domestic abuse cases that are still in the hall of fame, so it may not affect Gore’s chances but this is a new day and time.
