It’s safe to say that the Houston Texans have not been one of the most dominant franchises in the NFL since they began in 2004, especially during the past few seasons, but one recent stat highlights this to a pretty embarrassing degree.
This week, the Uconn Huskies men’s basketball team completed their run through the 2023 NCAA Tournament, beating the San Diego State Aztecs on Monday night at NRG Stadium in Houston to clinch the national championship. This was actually the second time the Huskies have won the national title in NRG Stadium with the team winning two games in the stadium each time – one semifinal game and one championship game.
This, of course, means that the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team has won four playoff games in NRG Stadium. And in a startling turn of events, that’s actually the same number of playoff wins as the Houston Texans have in their own home stadium.

This is obviously rather embarrassing for the Texans but pretty incredible for the Huskies. And as a result, the sports world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.
Truly a trash franchise man https://t.co/fumZemdU1e

UConn really has the same number of playoff wins as the Texans in their own building 💀 (via r/nfl) pic.twitter.com/rq24KPNppA

Most surprising part is that the Texans have won four playoff games? At home? https://t.co/q7B6k1oWzw

This is similar to the Yankees having the most playoff wins at Target Field. https://t.co/0PgAyZbdVa

The Texans will obviously try to overtake the Huskies for the most playoff wins in NRG Stadium in the coming years.
