The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to begin a $1 billion renovation project on TIAA Bank Field. So that leaves the question: Where will the Jaguars play in the interim? As it turns out, the team is already ahead of the game, and Jacksonville has a bold plan for what they intend to try in the interim. The Jaguars have reportedly approached Daytona International Speedway officials about playing games at the venerable, world-renowned racetrack.

“Jaguars plan to meet with Daytona International Speedway officials in the coming weeks about the possibility of using the racetrack as a temporary home stadium for the NFL team for two years as it renovates TIAA Bank Field,” Adam Stern tweeted on Friday evening.

Don Muret of VenuesNow.com report writes that the Jaguars are looking over potential sites like the Daytona Speedway. According to the report, Jaguars team president Mark Lamping did not rule out the possibility of using the historic racetrack as a potential destination.

In 2016, the Tennessee Volunteers and Virginia Tech Hokies faced off in the “Battle at Bristol.” On that September night, the Hokies and Vols competed in a regular-season college football game at the well-known Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee;. So racetracks are not unfamiliar with hosting football games.

Time will tell to see if this is where they land, but it’s a bold plan nonetheless.

The NFL world reacted to the news.
