Jalen Hurts Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles superstar quarterback Jalen Hurts is widely considered one of the top quarterbacks in the entire league and was one of the preseason favorites to contend for this year’s MVP Award. But one particularly brutal stat highlights an area where Hurts has struggled mightily this season: turnovers.

While Jalen Hurts is a playmaker for the Eagles and is able to make plays with both his legs and his arm, he has not done a great job of protecting the ball this season. In fact, he’s tied for the worst in the league in that regard, as NFL writer Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports points out.

“Jalen Hurts is tied for the most turnovers in the #NFL this season (17). These’s no defending that,” Kerr wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is pretty horrible news about Hurts, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

Hurts had some costly turnovers in the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, throwing two costly interceptions, including one that sealed the game for the Seahawks.

If the Eagles are going to contend for the Super Bowl championship this season, it’s clear that Hurts is going to have to do a better job of protecting the football.
