Miami Dolphins fans and otherwise were somewhat relieved to hear a significant injury update on Jalen Ramsey. Earlier Thursday, the star cornerback suffered an apparent knee injury, and the Dolphins training staff carted him off.

Several hours later, news finally emerged on his condition. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that while Ramsey has his ACL intact, there is also bad news. The former FSU standout will miss the beginning of the regular season and will require surgery to repair his knee injury.

“Dolphins’ six-time Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey will undergo knee surgery and is expected to miss the start of the regular season with the injury he suffered during today’s practice, per league sources. Ramsey’s ACL is intact, though, which is a positive.”

The Dolphins expected much from the former six-time Pro Bowler this season. They made him their prized acquisition after swinging a deal with the Los Angeles Rams for a blockbuster trade earlier this off-season. Unfortunately, things do not always go to plan. Now Ramsey will be sidelined with this knee injury. But the positive news out of this is that his ACL is intact. Obviously, severe ligament damage would be far worse, so Miami won’t be entirely without him in 2023.

Mixed feelings about the situation trickled in after the news broke.
