Prior to Sunday’s game between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts at the Superdome, Saints quarterback Jameis Winston took the time to make one young fan’s day.

The fan was in a Florida State jersey, the school at which Winston won the 2013 Heisman Trophy, and held a sign saying “Jameis – Eat a W with me?”

“You absolutely made this kid (and his mom’s) day. Week. Month. Year,” Kortnee Mauck said in a message to Winston on X.

The reference comes from one of Winston’s pregame speeches as a member of the Buccaneers, in a game that ironically enough was against the Saints. Winston spent the first five seasons of his career with Tampa after they drafted him first overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed with New Orleans prior to the 2020 season, where he has remained ever since.

Mostly a backup in New Orleans, Winston has appeared in 17 games for the Saints, starting 10 of them in his four seasons. He has thrown for 18 touchdowns with New Orleans.

As shown by the picture, Winston happily obliged the young fan’s request, and social media loved it.

One user said, “Jameis loves the kids,” and posted a crying laughing emoji.

Another called Winston a “legend” and “role model.”

Another called Winston “a man of the people.”

Another was happy to see the child so happy.
