When quarterback Jared Goff was traded to the Detroit Lions as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams, most saw him as a stop-gap option for the team at quarterback with many assuming they’d soon replace him. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to be the case, and now Goff’s critics will have to answer for it.

During a recent interview, Jared Goff was asked by Carlos Monarrez of The Detroit Free Press if he feels like he gets enough respect from the media. And he had a pretty brutally honest response.

“I don’t care,” Goff told the Detroit Free Press. “Don’t care. Don’t even know if I do or not. Try to win games for this team. That’s all.”

Still, Goff admits that he does play with a chip on his shoulder. And he thinks it helps him become even more of an elite competitor.

“I think it always helps,” he said. “You always want to find that edge someway somehow. That’s a smaller edge for me.

“I think I’ve got more personal ones that internally fire me up. But yeah, it’s always good to have the little chip on your shoulder that you want to prove people wrong.”

We’ll have to see if Goff can continue to prove people wrong this season.
