We don’t want to jinx anything, but Jared Goff is flirting with history.

It appears Goff doesn’t want to jinx anything, either.

The Detroit Lions quarterback has an interception-free streak going which stands at 359 pass attempts. But it’s not something weighing heavily on his mind.

“You guys are talking about it way too much,” Goff told reporters during a Tuesday media session, including the Detroit Free Press. “I haven’t thought about it once.”

Here’s what Goff *hasn’t* thought about:

  • He has the third-largest such streak in NFL history.
  • He’s behind future Hall of Famers Tom Brady (399) and Aaron Rodgers (402).

But what he can take solace in is the fact that he’s improved so much since the early part of his career. It showed last season when he threw for 17 touchdowns to just one interception during his final 10 games. He led the NFL in touchdown to interception ratio during that 2022 campaign as well.

The Lions credited his confidence heading into the regular season when they noticed his passing abilities during training camp. Goff said his time with the team has added to his mental and physical toughness.

“I think as you get older, you realize when the shot is there and when it’s not and I think that’s something that I’ve kind of learned as I’ve gone through the last handful of seasons,” Goff said. “Just ’cause the shot’s called, doesn’t mean it’s shot taken. But then also knowing when it’s there and pulling the trigger and making those tight windows close and finding that balance and as you get older, I think it’s something that you learn.”
