It’s not often a wide receiver gets to play with the same quarterback at the college level and in the NFL, but that’s exactly what has happened for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who caught passes from Tua Tagovailoa with the Alabama Crimson Tide before joining him with the Dolphins. And it sounds like he’s loving the experience.
“It’s great,” Waddle said according to Pro Football Talk. “Tua’s a great guy. We’ve got years in with us playing together, so it’s always good being familiar with your quarterback, from the college game to the NFL game. It’s like riding a bike, getting back playing with him. It’s fun. You don’t have to learn quarterback tendencies when you’ve already played with him.”
Waddle had some high praise for his starting quarterback, as well, hyping up Tagovailoa’s ball place placement and accuracy.
“His ball placement. I think everybody sees it, knowing exactly where to place the ball so his receivers can not just catch it, but catch it and run with it. That’s what makes Tua Tua,” Waddle said.
Tagovailoa got off to a strong start to the 2022 season, but his season got derailed a bit by multiple head injuries. It will be interesting to see how he is able to bounce back this season.
