What would a Jerry Jones pre-draft press conference be like without a few controversial comments from the owner? Jerry Jones didn’t hold back, which shouldn’t be a surprise.
What was a surprise was his comments on head coach Mike McCarthy.
Speaking on the draft, Jones said, “Drafting is not our problem; coaching is.”

Now according to the reporters there, it was seen as a tongue-in-cheek comment made by Jones and meant to be funny.
But you have to wonder, with the Cowboy coach sitting right next to him: How much of this was humor and part seriousness? Although McCarthy will return as the head coach next season, many have wondered if this could be it for him if the team doesn’t reach the NFC Championship Game next year.
The Cowboys let quite a few members of their coaching staff leave this offseason so far, the main one being offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Moore now coaches for the Los Angeles Chargers.
McCarthy is expected to take over some, if not all, of the offensive playcalling this season, so the pressure will be on him if his team does not succeed this year.
And while this might be seen by most as a joke, you better believe that Jerry Jones put Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy on notice.
