The New York Jets helped turn their season around with perhaps the biggest upset of the NFL season in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite this, it seems like they may be sellers ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
The team brought in veteran running back Dalvin Cook just weeks before the start of the season, but he hasn’t had quite the impact that some were expecting of him this season.
Cook is averaging just 2.8 yards per carry this season, and appears to be falling further down the Jets depth chart as starting running back Breece Hall continues to get healthier.
According to Diana Russini of The Athletic, this has led to the team making him available to potential suitors in trade talks ahead of the deadline.
Along with making Cook available, the team is also listening to offers on veteran pass rusher Carl Lawson, who has also fallen out of favor with the Jets coaching staff.
Considering their struggles on the year, it seems like Jets fans are largely in favor of trading these two veterans to potentially get younger.
If the #Jets find a trade partner for Cook I’ll be very pleased. He’s looked sluggish and indecisive.

While this could be considered by some as the Jets selling some of their talent, it is actually a move that could help their play, not harm it.
Neither Cook nor Lawson has looked like the same players they once were, and allowing some young talent to take their roles could end up benefitting the team in a big way in the long term.
