Indianapolis Colts team owner Jim Irsay has been outside of the public eye over the past few weeks, even as the Colts made their run at a potential trip to the postseason that fell just short with a loss to the Houston Texans this weekend. And it sounds like his absence from public appearances might be due to a health concern.

On Tuesday morning, the Indianapolis Colts released a statement revealing that Jim Irsay was being treated for “a severe respiratory illness” that will prevent him from performing with his band this week.

“Jim Irsay is currently being treated for a severe respiratory illness,” the statement read, via NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“While this unfortunately means he won’t be able to perform with his band this week in Los Angeles, he is receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possible. We’ll have no additional information at this time and we ask that you respect the privacy of Jim and his family as he recovers.”

Irsay is 64 years old. He took over as the team owner of the Colts back in 1997 when he inherited the team from his late father, Bob.
