The Super Bowl aspirations of the Cincinnati Bengals almost entirely rest upon the health of franchise quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bengals could seemingly win a championship missing one of several key players—except for Burrow.

Burrow created headlines across the NFL on Thursday when he came up lame while running to his right in practice. Burrow went to the ground without contact and was carted off the field by medical staff.

Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase revealed that Burrow gave him a head nod before exiting the field, which to Chase meant that Burrow meant he would be okay.

The Bengals appear to have diverted total disaster, according to head coach Zac Taylor. On Thursday, Taylor revealed that Burrow suffered a calf strain, which will bad, certainly won’t require him to miss the entire season as had been previously feared by some Bengals observers.

More importantly, Taylor said he expected Burrow to miss “several weeks” of action. He repeated that timeframe—”several weeks”—when asked if there was concern Burrow’s injury rehabilitation would stretch into the regular season, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The Bengals are set to play the Cleveland Browns on the road on Sept. 10th. As of now, it’s unclear if Burrow will be able to make the start.
