When Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury during last week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, many pointed to what appeared to be a brace Burrow was wearing on his wrist before the game as evidence that the Bengals perhaps concealed a pre-existing injury before the game – which would likely elicit punishment from the league. But it looks like Burrow did not actually have an injury leading up to the game.

According to a report from league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, there is no evidence that Joe Burrow had a pre-existing injury heading into Sunday’s game over the Baltimore Ravens.

“Sources familiar with the organization say the Bengals have turned in hours of footage to the NFL showing that Burrow was healthy prior to the game,” Rapoport wrote for NFL.com on Sunday Sunday. “According to those who have seen the footage, Burrow threw the ball normally during practice, without a brace and took all of his normal reps. It also includes documentation from medical personnel stating Burrow’s injury was ‘acute,’ as [coach Zac] Taylor has explained. It was not, the doctors say, an injury that happened over time, sources say.”

This is pretty surprising news, given what it looked like, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

Burrow will miss the rest of the season with a wrist injury. He will be replaced by backup quarterback Jake Browning for the remainder of the year.
