After Joe Flacco led the Baltimore Ravens to the Super Bowl championship following the 2012 season, the question of whether or not he was an elite quarterback became a running joke in NFL circles. But after what he’s done for the Cleveland Browns this season, it sounds like it might be time to put that joke to rest.

New York Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley was on the losing end of a game against Joe Flacco on Thursday night when the Jets fell 37-20 to the Cleveland Browns. And Mosley had some high praise for Flacco after the game, saying that he’s proven that he is indeed an elite quarterback in this league.

“Everybody always joked, even in Baltimore, was he elite?” Mosley said, via Jake Trotter of ESPN.com. “He’s showing it. Not a lot of guys, especially veterans like him and his age, just coming from home, hanging with his kids, do what he’s done. I told him after the game it’s crazy to hear the Browns fans screaming, ‘Flacco!’ That was pretty wild to me, but I’m happy for him. Obviously we wanted to get the win, but just as a friend, as a fan, I’m definitely happy for him.”

With the win on Thursday night, the Browns have officially clinched a spot in the postseason. We’ll have to see if Flacco can lead the Browns on a run to the Super Bowl.
