Earlier this month, former Denver Broncos general manager John Elway officially parted ways with the team after his contract expired. And it looks like that will mark the end of his career around football altogether.

During an interview with Woody Paige of the Denver Gazette this week, John Elway revealed that he is now walking away from football entirely.

“I don’t have that desire to climb another mountain again,” Elway told the Denver Gazette. “I’ve been to the summit a bunch of times in 62 years.”

After walking away from the NFL, Elway says that he has other business ventures that he will pursue.

“I’ve got the restaurants and car dealerships and other [businesses] to keep me busy enough,” Elway told Paige.

Even though he will no longer be involved with the team in any capacity, Elway is grateful for his time in Denver and will always root for the Broncos. And if the Broncos ever do need his help in the future, it sounds like he’ll just be a quick phone call away.

“I’ll always be a Bronco and a fan, and I told [Denver Broncos CEO] Greg Penner I’m here if they call on me for anything,” Elway said.
