Josh Allen softball

NFL fans know Josh Allen is an exceptional athlete. The Buffalo Bills quarterback has a cannon for an arm, good speed, and mobility. It’s enough to make everyone wonder how he might do playing another sport.

Fans got their answer during the third annual Micah Hyde Charity Softball Game on Sunday at Sahlen Field, home of the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

The event included a home-run hitting contest. Allen, the defending home run derby champion, launched a number of towering shots that cleared a fence in left field more than 400 feet away. One appeared to fly out of the park near a road behind the stadium.

As the Buffalo Bisons tweeted, “OB1 doing QB1 things. HE LAUNCHES THE BALLS TO THE HIGHWAY!”

That performance allowed Allen to tie for this year’s derby crown with offensive tackle Spencer Brown, who at 6-foot-8, 310 pounds looks like he could absolutely destroy a softball.

Here’s another look at Allen mashing.

It wasn’t the only derby Allen appeared at this weekend. He also attended the Kentucky Derby and associated events at Churchill Downs on Friday and Saturday.

Now, it’s time for Allen to get back to his day job. The Bills have some unfinished business, after a disappointing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Playoffs last season.
