This offseason, the New England Patriots added a veteran wide receiver to their offense, signing free agent JuJu Smith-Schuster to the roster last month. And it sounds like the Patriots coaching staff is excited about the addition.

This week, new New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien discussed the addition of Smith-Schuster and he had one clear thing he liked about his new receiver: his versatility.

“It’s early, but he’s a guy that, when you watch him play and you watch his tape from the places that he’s been, he’s a very versatile guy,” O’Brien said according to Dakota Randall of NESN.com. “I think that’s what you see in that wide receiver room. There’s a lot of guys with versatility. He’s definitely a guy that has been a good addition so far, just in the meeting room with his experience and the things that he’s done, especially most recently in Kansas City. So, it’s been good to work with him.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how O’Brien and the Patriots are able to use that versatility and how the revamped offense will perform, especially with Mac Jones returning as the team’s starting quarterback for a third season.
