During last year’s meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles, things did not exactly go according to plan for the Minnesota Vikings or star wide receiver Justin Jefferson. And it sounds like he’s hoping for things to be different this year.

Last year, Jefferson spent much of the game defended by Eagles starting cornerback Darius Slay, and it’s safe to say that Slay got the better of the matchup. Jefferson finished with just six catches for 48 yards, while Slay had two interceptions on the game.

Now, heading into this week’s showdown with the Eagles, Jefferson has made it clear that there’s “definitely some tension going into the game” as he and the team are looking for a better performance.

“It’s always going to be a great battle with the top corners in the league,” Jefferson said according to Judd Zulgad of USA Today. “I’m always excited to have those type of matchups. But definitely we have some things we’ve got to get back [at] them on. Having the loss last year, not having those plays we wanted last year. There’s definitely some tension going into the game.”

We’ll have to see whether or not Jefferson and the Vikings can avenge last season’s loss, or whether Slay and the Eagles will dominate once again.
