While Houston Texans head coach Lovie Smith declined to comment on Wednesday, sources have told NFL reporter Mike Garafolo that their starting quarterback will be Kyle Allen this weekend against the Miami Dolphins.

This will be Allen’s first start with the Texans, though he has appeared in 21 games in his NFL career, amassing over 4,000 yards passing and 24 touchdowns. This is Allen’s third team as he previously played for the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders.

Allen will take the place of Davis Mills, who has struggled as the starter for the 1-8-1 Texans.

Mills has had a tough season as the starting quarterback for the Texans. He has only thrown 11 touchdowns to go with 11 interceptions and 2,144 passing yards.

The Texans have been struggling big-time at that position since the departure of Deshaun Watson and haven’t found a suitable replacement yet.

Now with only one win in their column, it looks as if they are the top seed for the No. 1 pick in next year’s NFL Draft. In all likelihood, they are going to be shopping for their future quarterback, and luckily for them, they will have their choice of some of the top college quarterbacks in the country, one of whom could be the future face of this franchise.
