The Arizona Cardinals have been without star quarterback Kyler Murray so far this season as he remains on the team’s physically unable to perform list. He will be eligible to return to practice following the team’s fourth game of the season, but that doesn’t mean he actually will.

During his press conference on Thursday, Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike Gannon announced that the team was going to take things slow with returning Kyler Murray to the field and that he might not necessarily practice as soon as he’s eligible to return.

“He’s doing well,” Gannon said according to PHNX Sports. “We know the timetable of when he can return to play, but that doesn’t mean that he’s going to return to play and open his window then. We’ll get him going when he’s physically and mentally ready to play. And knowing that it’s going to take him some time and some weeks of practice to get comfortable with what he’s doing. I’m not in a hurry with that. Would love to have him out there, he’s itching to be back but we’ll take that one day at a time.”

It’s a pretty brutal announcement about Murray’s return timeline, and the NFL world had plenty to say about it on Twitter as a result.

We’ll have to see when Murray returns to the field, but these comments from Gannon don’t inspire a lot of confidence that it will be very soon.
