Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has made waves everywhere he’s gone. The former Heisman Trophy winner and 2019 NFL MVP has built up quite a reputation as a supremely talented player who dazzles everyone who watches him. Jackson has taken on plenty of challenges over his career, but an unexpected one rose on Wednesday night.

Lamar attended AEW Dynamite in Baltimore on Wednesday. The Ravens QB was prominently featured, shown in the crowd while the show was on the air.

It wouldn’t take long for someone on the AEW roster to take notice of Jackson in the crowd. And it wound up being one of the most prominent names in wrestling over the last 25+ years. Wrestling legend Chris Jericho went out to the ring for a segment later on in the telecast. Jericho, a multi-time world champion known for not being shy, called Lamar out from inside the ring.

During the Ravens’ scheduled media availability on Thursday, Jackson was asked about this encounter. The quarterback responded by saying he was taken back by the challenge from the AEW star:

“I got called out, ” Jackson told reporters while letting out a laugh. “I wasn’t looking for, like I wasn’t thinking he was gonna call me out. You know, Chris Jericho called me out. I was like, I didn’t really hear what he said at first. Then they told me and I start laughing. I’m like, ‘This man is crazy.’ I enjoyed it though. Growing up I was a huge fan of wrestling. It was cool to go see it.”

While it’s anyone’s guess if Lamar and Jericho would ever actually touch gloves, the AEW Twitter account certainly endorsed the idea:
