The Lamar Jackson Saga took several twists and turns on Monday. Jackson revealed to the world that he requested a trade for the team that drafted him, the Baltimore Ravens, back on March 2. Baltimore hasn’t honored that request quite yet as Jackson, who the team tagged with a non-exclusive tag at the start of the league year. But another turn taken involved Jackson, the New England Patriots, and popular rapper Meek Mill.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft addressed many things during an NFL Network interview. One of them was the fact that the rapper texted the Pats’ owner about possibly acquiring Lamar Jackson. Mill indicated to Kraft that Jackson “wanted to come to New England,” according to a tweet from SI’s Albert Breer.

“Patriots owner Robert Kraft said Meek Mill texted him three or four days ago saying Lamar Jackson wanted to come to New England. Kraft responded that would be Bill Belichick’s decision,” Breer tweeted.

The NFL world took that comment and ran with it.

The Pats Pulpit blog was in disbelief.

“The fact that Robert Kraft and Meek Mill still text ist he best prat of this tweet. God bless that odd couple,” one fan tweeted.

“Meek Mill is a sports diplomat operating back channels,” Brian Floyd tweeted.

“Love this. The Patriots are never dull,” Christopher Price of The Boston Globe tweeted.

“Fantastic on every level,” Christopher Gasper, also of The Boston Globe, tweeted.
