L’Jarius Sneed has a new home.

The Kansas City Chiefs have spent much of the offseason re-signing key players like Chris Jones and Drue Tranquill and adding reinforcements like speedster Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. But on Friday, the Chiefs lost a big piece of their championship puzzle, sending Sneed to the Tennessee Titans.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the deal on Friday night, noting that the “Chiefs are expected to receive a 2025 3rd-round pick, in addition to a 2024 7th-round pick flop, while Sneed will sign a new contract. Trade is pending physical for Sneed.”

Schefter added that the Titans and Sneed “have the framework of an agreement that they have been working on for days” that “will make him one of the highest-paid CBs in NFL history.”

The trade drew a lot of commentary, with much of the focus going on what the Chiefs did — or did not — get back in exchange.

It’s worth noting that there may be further moving parts to this. The trade, once it goes through, will clear $19.8 million in cap space.

While most of the top free agents have already been signed, that would open the Chiefs up for another big trade. If nothing else, their offseason just got a lot more interesting.
