McLeod Bethel-Thompson was once a prized college football recruit, and his talent has been enough to get him from Sacramento State to the NFL. However, getting to the NFL and sticking seems to be a problem.

On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles cut Bethel-Thompson, the ninth time the quarterback has been cut, all without playing a single game in an NFL uniform.

It was a matter of time before this happened with the Eagles, as they already had Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz, the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, in the fold heading in to training camp.

Concentrating on those likely to play in the near future is clearly high on the priority list for new head coach Doug Pederson.

Bethel-Thompson proves the adage of “playing for the love of the game,” as he has had three different stints with the 49ers, two with the Dolphins, two with the Vikings and one with the Patriots.

His journey doesn’t stop there though, as he has also had one stint with the San Jose SaberCats of Arena Football and one with the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League, all in hopes of improving his chances to make an NFL dream come true.

Will Bethel-Thompson catch on as another arm for camp somewhere in the NFL this offseason? It sure seems as if teams around the league at least value his willingness to be a good teammate and steady hand in camp.
