An NFL head coach hilariously trashed his own quarterback’s play this week.

On the latest episode of Paramount+’s Inside the NFLthe Miami Dolphins were under the spotlight. And Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has led a very successful first-year campaign. Miami is 8-3 and leads the AFC East.

The Dolphins are seeking their first division title since 2008, and are in range to get it. That’s largely due to McDaniel’s coaching, great defense, stealthy skill players, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Criticism of Tagovailoa was a persistent thing up until recently. He made his thoughts clear about that in the summer. Lately, his great play has been way too difficult to ignore.

But that didn’t stop McDaniel (seen at right above talking to Tagavailoa at camp in July) from doing it in a hilarious way. Via Inside the NFL, the Miami head coach trashed Tua’s high school tape during comments on the sidelines in Sunday’s game (a 30-15 win over the Houston Texans). McDaniel said, “I woke up like at 3 and I couldn’t go back to sleep. So I was thinking about when you randomly hit me up that you were YouTubing me. And so then I YouTubed you and saw this Trent Dilfer thing. Showing all this high school s— from you. And bro, your technique was trash.”

Tagavailoa took it in stride with laughter, and clearly there were no ill intentions. But that’s still an incredibly hilarious soundbite nonetheless.
