One of the big issues in the NFL this season has been injuries to top quarterbacks as several of the league’s biggest stars have suffered season-ending injuries, like Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson, and others. But one team that has surprisingly been totally unaffected by injuries at the quarterback position is the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins had some brutal injury luck last season that caused starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to miss several games due to head injuries. Backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had his own injuries, too, resulting in third-string quarterback Skylar Thompson starting a playoff game for the Dolphins. But head coach Mike McDaniel is happy he’s not in that situation this year.

“Yeah, I think this is the second time it’s been brought to my attention,” McDaniel said according to Pro Football Talk. “And you’re so invested in your own situation. I’d be like, to me, it feels like the healthiest year for quarterbacks ever. But I don’t remember — I mean that seems like a lot. It does. And who knows what the correlation or causation of that is. But I think typically it feels like it’d be 35-40 total in a given season. That’s completely not factual, just a guess. But that seems pretty excessive because by my math there’s 32 teams. So yeah, that feels like it’s almost half the league that’s dealing with it, plus the guys that are on two or three. But shoot, for the Miami Dolphins, this is the year of quarterback health.”

Obviously, McDaniel and the Dolphins will hope it stays that way as the team has been one of the most dominant teams in the NFL so far this season and has sights on the Super Bowl.
