Standing only 5-foot-10, Kyler Murray does not look like your typical NFL player. He looks even less like an NFL player when he’s in street clothes. That led to a funny and awkward scene after last Sunday’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.

After Cleveland’s 27-0 win, Browns star Myles Garrett made his way off the field. A video shows Garrett greeting one person with a hug, then shaking Murray’s hand as he walks by. But he doesn’t look at Murray or acknowledge him.

Only after Murray hangs on to Garrett’s hand and pulls him closer does he look.

“Oh baby, I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” Garrett told Murray. “How you doin’?”

“Good to see you,” Murray responded.

In Garrett’s defense, he was yelling to someone on the sideline when he passed Murray without looking. Adding insult to injury, though, Garrett and Murray were college teammates during the 2015 season at Texas A&M, before Murray transferred to Oklahoma.

Just to prove that Garrett recognizes Murray, here they are sharing a moment after a 2021 game (and wow, Murray really does look different in a uniform instead of street clothes).

Murray, who had offseason ACL surgery, is expected to make his 2023 debut Sunday. The Cards quarterback trended on X/Twitter Thursday partly because fans are talking about his start against the Atlanta Falcons. Yet plenty were talking about his strange moment with Garrett.
