Colin Kaepernick Colin Kaepernick

NFL free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick created headlines throughout the league when he wrote a letter to the New York Jets.

In the letter, made public by rapper J. Cole, Kaepernick asked the Jets to sign him to the practice squad as a nothing-to-lose proposition.

The letter proved controversial in the NFL among fans and media members alike.

Speaking Wednesday on The Breakfast Club, New York radio personality Charlamagne tha God blasted Kaepernick for his “downright pathetic” attempt to get back in the NFL.

“I wish that letter was never written,” Charlamagne said. “That letter was tragically sad and downright pathetic. Colin Kaepernick has let his setback become his identity, and I hate that for him. It pains to see that man still begging to be in a league that he called racist and he compared to a plantation.”

He didn’t stop there, either.

“And I hate that he can never speak for himself. He always got somebody else speaking for him or putting out his message for him. That’s so wack to me. I wish Colin the best in all his endeavors but just begging these same people you called racist for an opportunity is pitiful.”

Kaepernick did not immediately respond to the insults.
