The New York Jets expected to play this season with Aaron Rodgers as the team’s starter and Zach Wilson as the backup, but after Rodgers suffered a season-ending ankle injury during the first drive of the season, that plan changed a little bit. And it sounds like the Jets are now adding a veteran quarterback to help bolster the position for the remainder of the season.

According to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, the New York Jets are bringing in veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian to bolster their quarterback position.

“Jets are planning to add to their QB room: Veteran QB Trevor Siemian is signing with the Jets, pending a physical, per sources,” Schefter wrote in a post on X, the social media website formerly known as Twitter.

This marks a return to the Jets for Siemian as he spent some brief time with the team back in 2019 before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.

Siemian is quite a journeyman quarterback. He was selected by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft and has since spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, and Cincinnati Bengals.
