On Sunday afternoon, Zach Wilson returned to the New York Jets starting lineup just a few weeks after he was benched in favor of Tim Boyle. Not only did Wilson play well in his return to the starting lineup, but he might have had the best game of his entire NFL career.

Zach Wilson finished the game 27 of 36 for 301 yards with two touchdowns, notching an impressive completion percentage of 75 percent to help lead the team to a 30-6 blowout win over the Houston Texans on Sunday afternoon.

It was a performance that stood out for New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh.

“His best game as a professional,” Saleh said after the game according to the New York Jets official team website. “He made things happen. I thought he was outstanding today.”

Wilson had last played on Nov. 19 when he led the team against the Buffalo Bills. In that game, Wilson went just 7 for 14 through the air for just 81 yards along with a touchdown and an interception. It’s not clear what changed that led Wilson to improve so drastically in this game, but Wilson looked like a completely new quarterback against the Texans.

We’ll have to see whether or not he can keep this up throughout the remainder of the season.
