One big potential rule change the NFL is exploring this offseason is the decision of whether or not to allow offensive players to push a ball carrier from behind, much like the Philadelphia Eagles did for quarterback Jalen Hurts on his quarterback sneaks this season. But apparently, that’s not the only major rule change the league is considering.

On Monday afternoon, NFL reporter Mark Maske of The Washington Post revealed a few other rules changes the league is proposing this offseason including some changes to its onside kick procedure, allowing a team a third active quarterback, and changes to how many challenges a team can have after a successful challenge.

“Other rule-change proposals by NFL teams deal with the third-quarterback rule; the fourth-and-15 alternative to the onside kick; and the number of replay challenges afforded to a team that is successful in its challenges,” Maske wrote in a tweet on Monday.

Obviously, all of these potential rule changes would have a pretty big impact on the game if they’re approved and adopted, but for now, they are all just proposals. It remains to be seen just how many of these potential rule changes actually come to fruition in the future.
