Week 1 of the NFL season is looming, and the injury reports are getting crowded. The Green Bay Packers face a brutal situation worth following now after two receivers landed on the injured list on Wednesday. The team revealed that Christian Watson joined Romeo Doubs on the report.

“Maybe not the ideal way to start the week: Christian Watson has joined Romeo Doubs (hamstring) on the injury list,” Packer reporter Rob Demovsky posted Wednesday afternoon. “Watson will be on the injury report released this afternoon. Could know more about his status then and from LaFleur.”

LaFleur would later add, per Demovsky, that “He will give Watson and Romeo Doubs (hamstring) the full week to get ready for the opener.”

Whether Doubs and Watson are in the lineup this weekend, Green Bay will look loads different. Jordan Love will make his first official start for Green Bay this weekend against the rival Chicago Bears. Love follows in Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre’s footsteps as Packers starting quarterbacks, and after those two dominated over the last 30 years, it will be fascinating to see what comes next.

It will help Love’s cause, of course, if he has two of his best targets around. So, for his sake, both Doubs and Watson heal up and end up off the injury report in time for the renewal of the NFL’s most longstanding rivalry.

The NFL world had plenty to say about the brutal Packers news.
