Jordan Love had good command and played well in his 2023 debut as a starter Friday night. The Green Bay Packers quarterback looked poised and threw a touchdown to Romeo Doubs to complete his night after two drives against the Cincinnati Bengals. Love impressed some onlookers and made a good impression on head coach Matt LaFleur.

LaFleur spoke to reporters after the game, which the Packers won over the Bengals 36-19. Among the topics discussed, of course, was Jordan Love. He quickly erased doubt that the starter would see time in the preseason dissipate.

“Matt LaFleur says Jordan Love will get more preseason game action this summer,” Matt Schneidman posted.

Love will no doubt benefit from more preseason reps. He’s thrown right into the fire once the 2023 regular season starts. In the off-season, the Packers traded superstar Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, setting the stage for Love to take over the starting quarterback role. That title has been held by just a handful of others over the years, predominantly Rodgers and disgraced Hall of Famer Brett Favre.

But if he continues to look sharp like he did on Friday, then the Packers might not see much difficulty. Granted, preseason speed and regular-season speed are two completely different animals. So we won’t know what Love really is until later on.

The NFL world reacted to the news.
