Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young has a ton of expectations on him, which comes with being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Young revealed that one of his big supporters this offseason has been former Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. who he revealed has been a big part of the team’s OTAs.

Young spoke about Smith’s presence this offseason, saying that he has been a big help as he tries to pick up the new offense ahead of his first NFL season.

“He’s been here a good amount,” Young told Anthony Rizzuti of Panthers Wire about Smith. “And having someone, a legend, being able to be around every time, Every opportunity I get to be able to pick his brain, hear his opinions about stuff, tell me how he feels—whether that’s stuff about me and super applicable or just other stuff. Whatever conversations we have, I definitely value those a lot. I’m grateful for him being here. A legend of the sport. It’s not his first time he comes in, and he’s supportive, he’s doing everything to push us and giving his opinion and that’s something we all value being the legend that he is.”

Smith has equally been complimentary of Young in the past, saying that Young was deserving of being the No. 1 pick after what he called an impressive pro day for Young back in March.

“It was remarkable. I mean, it sure looked good watchin’ it, man. What a wonderful, wonderful display of why you deserve to be the first overall quarterback to be picked in this year’s draft.”

Smith obviously has plenty of NFL experience to speak of to help out Young, which hopefully helps him be as prepared as possible for his first NFL season.
