The Kansas City Chiefs may be underdogs in the upcoming Super Bowl LVIII showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, but Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes doesn’t necessarily feel that way about this game or any other game for that matter.

During his press conference on Monday evening, Patrick Mahomes opened up about how he feels when he enters a game as an underdog, revealing that he doesn’t let it change how he approaches a game because he always feels like he has a chance to win every game he plays.

“I think you approach it like any other game,” Mahomes said according to Pro Football Talk. “I never feel like the underdog. I always feel like we have a chance to win the football game and that’s how we approach every single game. We were underdogs in the last Super Bowl, so all you can do is just have the same mindset of just going out there, playing your best football and hoping that you end up with a win.”

Obviously, this mentality has paid off for Mahomes as he has an insane 9-3 record as a starter in games in which he is an underdog. We’ll have to see if he can improve that record this week and claim a Lombardi Trophy in the process.
