Bill Belichick is finishing his worst season as a head coach. His 4-12 record with the New England Patriots is the worst of his career.
While he wasn’t sure about his future with the organization, that decision is well on its way.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini wrote in her latest “What I’m hearing …” column that there’s a meeting set for next week between Belichick and Patriots owners Robert and Jonathan Kraft.
“There are some who work for the team who are expecting changes and have started to put out feelers about jobs elsewhere,” she wrote.
Russini said there are also other teams, naming the Washington Commanders and the Las Vegas Raiders, who are hoping for an opportunity to meet with Belichick. She adds there are more teams “in the shadows,” but that is dependent on how the Week 18 and playoff games turn out.
Belichick has been asked countless times about his future with the team, but he’s remained quiet on that front. His comments have consisted of saying he’s concentrating on the current team and the upcoming matchup each week.
The Patriots’ Week 18 game is against the New York Jets. The world will wait to see if it’s Belichick’s final game as the team’s head coach.
