Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Chandler Jones was arrested on Friday for allegedly violating a domestic violence temporary protective order.

Shortly after news of Jones’ arrest in Las Vegas was first made public, the Raiders released the following statement:

“The Raiders are hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs. He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts. As this is now a legal matter, we will not be providing further comment.”

Jones’ arrest marks the culmination of a week in which the 33-year-old defender has displayed concerning behavior on social media. On Monday, the Syracuse product claimed that he was taken to a hospital against his will and later transferred to a behavioral health facility. On Thursday, he posted a series of incoherent videos, including one in which he broke down crying after claiming that his former New England Patriots teammate, Aaron Hernandez, didn’t actually commit suicide in prison after being convicted of murder.

Jones has not played for Las Vegas this season and has been away from the team since making a series of social media posts aimed at the Raiders, owner Mark Davis, general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels in August. He was placed on the non-football illness list last week.

Selected by the Patriots with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Jones has been one of the league’s top pass-rushers since entering the league. The two-time first-team All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowl selection has spent time with the Patriots (2012-2015), Arizona Cardinals (2016-2021) and Raiders (2022) over the course of his 11-year career.
