Despite a report to the contrary, the Los Angeles Rams are not seeking to trade starting quarterback Matthew Stafford.

A report came out earlier on Thursday from former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi that the Rams may be in the market to trade the veteran quarterback. However, the team says that’s not true.

“Matt Stafford is fully available,” Lombardi said on The Pat McAfee Show. “They would love to trade [him]. They can’t [easily] do it, because he’s got $57 million guaranteed. [But] they’re trying to get out from it. [They’ve] called teams, I know this.”

But Rams GM Les Snead says the Rams aren’t looking to get rid of Stafford.

“We’re going to definitely rely on Matthew, he’s definitely one of our pillars.” he said “He’s definitely someone we’re going to rely on as we remodel this.”

Snead also said the team won’t just “bulldoze the house down” meaning they aren’t just going to plan to rebuild. One would think if the Rams had planned to rebuild, Stafford would be on the trading block.

Los Angeles just won a Super Bowl two years ago and still has several pieces from that team that are still there, so maybe the case for the Rams this offseason is just putting the pieces back together and adding a few more to become competitive again.
